Damn your songwritin' eyes, Captain Positive has been rattling around in my brain for two days or more. it's f*****g funny, not to mention its musical brilliance. again.
―Greg Hofmann, former editor of the Adobe Website & songwriter of the first order.
After 2 or 3 days of Captain P fragments bouncing around in my brain, damn your eyes, I listened to it again. and I'm still finding new stuff in it. [finally got "Doctor Killjoy/Kildare" for example – funny.] [also, after the a cappella/choral passage, the quick little [organ?] riff that leads back to full instrumentation, and... oh hell, it goes on and on.] and it still SLAYS me that you did the guitar parts on keyboard. it's just so wrong.
and where the hell is Visalia, anyway?
and now that I've listened again [and again], the damned song will no doubt rattle around my beleaguered skull for days to come. Damn.
―Greg Hofmann
Thanks for sending Emancipation. I am listening to it as I write this, and I understand why you sent it. It's very jazzy and exciting. It reminds me of a piece I am working on by Ginestera, Pompiana #2 for cello and piano. Your piece is terrific...
―Mark Summer, cellist for the Turtle Island String Quartet
Just heard your new song. WOW!!
[On The Fence] I LOVE IT!! It's really an amazing piece of work and my opinion, I think you could get a major cover of it if that's something you want. I also LOVE your vocal on it. In short, I think you have a winner here. Look forward to hearing more as they roll off the line...again, thank you for sharing this great work with me!

It's been a while since I was so moved as I was by the title track of this album [A House Divided]. There is such energy and passion here behind a message the world desperately needs to hear. As I listened to the other cuts, I found much to enjoy as well. The variety Matthew brings to this one CD is impressive and intriguing. There is something here for everyone.

A great song! [A House Divided]
I would like your permission to forward it to the people at the Crystal Cathedral with an eye to possibly having them invite you to perform your song with their orchestra and choir - or letting Nita do it...Again – congratulations. Nita said we need more music like that in the world - and I agree.
―Don LaFontaine, voiceover legend
I am from Egypt. I live in Giza. Just opposite the pyramids actually. Can't get more Egyptian than that. I have downloaded the anthem and will have a get together so we can all weep together. Someone once told me it works better for the tear ducts that way.

The [Healing] prayer with Andrew is one of the most precious and beautiful things that I have ever heard in my life.

I just wanted to let you know that I’ve got your CD in my stereo, and no matter how hard I try to work, when Love on the fence comes on, I have to stop, and listen, and weep.

Your songs on the CD [A Sacrifice To Thee] have inspired listeners in Northern Ireland. A couple of years ago we did a Baha'i radio programme and played many of the tunes.

Dude, I love this song [On The Fence], and I can prove it. I went to sleep with your refrain running through my head, and woke up with same. Nice singing, love the guitars, love the melody, arrangement, the writing, the singing, the way your heart was exposed (hope that didn't hurt) in your vocal, by the end of the song I felt like cheering for you. (Both of you, actually.) Something else I loved: You proved again that dominant 7 chords are so cool, I know you know this, but on hearing that friendly dom7 chord after the nifty changes preceeding, the listener feels sort of an "aaah, here comes a nice chorus, and I know it's gonna be great! Well, that's my take, anyway.
